OUR CHEERLEADING PROGRAM
The
Temple Terrace Wildcats Cheerleading program was founded to promote a recreational cheerleading program with a major emphasis on fun, teamwork, and competitive
sportsmanship. The
cheerleading
coaches, trainers, and team mothers are a
dedicated group of people who volunteer their time and talents to coordinate
each cheerleading squad.
Our trainers are an ambitious
group of young people that volunteer to teach Wildcat cheerleaders the art of
"cheer". Trainers are usually girls that have been cheerleaders for the Wildcats in the past. Coaches and trainers are interviewed by the Cheerleading
Director and approved by the Wildcats Board of Directors. Coaches must be 21 years
of age. Trainers must be at least 14 years of age.
There are no try-outs and all girls registering are
rostered on
a team. The teams are limited to a maximum of 35 girls.
Cheerleaders perform every Saturday during
football season, August through December. They will participate in the
WCYFC
Cheer-off Competition, to be hosted by
the Brandon Bears.
The cheerleaders may also participate in other league approved functions,
such as other competitions outside of our conference, parades, exhibitions, etc.
CHEERLEADER
AGES

Wildcats cheerleading
squads range in age from 5 to 15. Cheerleaders are placed on teams strictly according to age, and these guidelines are set by the WCYFC and
are not subject to change.
Age division are as follows: 5,6 & 7 - Mascots; 8-9 – Super Midgets; 10-11 - Midgets; 12-13 – Junior Varsity; 14-15 - Varsity. Example: Age is determined by the girl's age on July 31, 2008.
UNIFORMS
The Cheerleading Director designs and selects the
uniform, which must be
approved by the Wildcats Board of Directors. All uniforms must pass inspection by
the Cheerleading Director.
League approved shoes must be
provided by the parents, as well as other approved items such as practice
outfits, turtlenecks, etc . Pom-poms are supplied by the Wildcats and must be
returned at the end of the season.
IMPORTANT
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All teams practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:15-8:15 pm. If a
practice is rained out, a make-up practice may be scheduled. Each cheerleading
coach will advise the cheerleaders of any changes in the
team's practice schedule.
If there is a disciplinary problem with a cheerleader that becomes serious
enough to disrupt the squad, the coach, after consultation with the Cheerleading
Director, may suspend or dismiss the girl from the squad pending final action
before the TTYSA Board of Directors at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting to appeal the
suspension or dismissal.
